Existing CD covers

Below are a few existing CD covers by the Kaiser Chiefs.

As you can see from the CD covers above the kaiser Chiefs like to use the two types of CD cover design they have gone for the arty design with the two on the left and right as well as choosing to go for the more traditional band photograph which is in the middle. I feel the indie genre influences which type of CD cover design a band picks. Most indie Bands for example will choose to have the arty design whereas most bands from the pop genre of music will choose to have a band shot, here are a few examples which support my theory.

Here are a few CD covers By the Killers

The killers in my opinion are rather like the Kaiser chiefs, they produce the same genre of music as well as having the same demographic of fans. like the kaiser chiefs as well they have gone for the arty CD covers rather then the band photograph front. Unlike the Kaiser Chiefs though the killers have kept the same logo all the through their CD covers. this helps them to produce a brand identity.

here are a few CD covers from Coldplay

Again coldplay have the same genre and demographic as the Kaiser Chiefs and The Killers, again they have very arty CD covers and like the kaiser chiefs they don't stick with the same band logo.

Here are a few cd covers but from different genres of music

here are three examples of CD covers from the pop genre as you can see they all have a photograph of the band/artist, JLS are the only band out of the three though that has a real logo. this logo will be used to publicize all of JLS forthcoming performances, albums posters etc. i would have to carry out more research to see if the other two's artists logo were part of a product identity like JLS's.
